We Are the Champions

Cavaliers dominant in the spring

As the weather warms up in Charlottesville, so do many of the University's sports teams. All time, the UVA athletes have won 25 NCAA Championships (ten for teams and 15 for individual events) and 41 ACC Championships during the spring.

The graphic below includes some of the hottest teams in recent years, but UVA's track and field teams are historically strong and have also contributed to the championship total. Women's track and field won five straight ACC Championships in the 1980s, and the men's team won one in 2009. Cavaliers have won three individual NCAA men's track and field championships (Paul Ereng in 1988 and '89, and Robbie Andrews in 2011).
