UVA hits $5B mark in fundraising campaign
The largest fundraising campaign in UVA history has crossed the $5 billion threshold, with 18 months to spare. Launched in 2019 to coincide with the University’s bicentennial, the “Honor the Future” campaign set a goal of raising $5 billion by June 30, 2025. That milestone has been reached, President James E. Ryan (Law class of ’92) announced in January.
“As impressive as it is, $5 billion is much more than simply a number,” Ryan said. “It represents critical investments in student and faculty that align with the 2030 Strategic Plan and will have an impact for generations.
“That said, we still have more to do, and with 18 months left in the campaign, will continue to build for the future.”
Some 230,000 alumni, parents and friends of the University have contributed to the campaign, which is led by chair Peter M. Grant (Col class of ’78, Darden class of ’86). The funds have supported new and existing academic programs and capital projects such as the Emmet-Ivy corridor, Alderman Library renovations, the Virginia Athletics Master Plan and more.
