From the Publisher: Honoring Our Mission in a Time of Transition
When I initially wrote this letter, the Alumni Association was preparing for a momentous milestone: breaking ground on a once-in-a-generation building project. I was excited to share the depth of planning and design that went into creating A Home for Every Hoo and enumerate all the ways in which this new building will allow us to serve you—and the rest of our ever-expanding alumni base—for generations to come.
While our building project continues as planned (and you can read more here), the landscape around us has shifted dramatically. President Ryan’s resignation and the ensuing national news coverage sparked a tremendous amount of alumni feedback, matched only by alumni reactions to President Teresa Sullivan’s ouster in 2012.
During this time of unexpected transition for the university, the Alumni Association has leaned into its longstanding mission: serving as the indispensable conduit for alumni voices and perspectives. As you will see in this issue, we received nearly 2,000 responses to our Vox Alumni survey launched after the news broke. I am grateful to each one of you who took the time to provide feedback, and I view the overwhelming response as a testament to our collective ties to our beloved university and one another.
As we step through this time of uncertainty, please know that our mission—and inspiration—remains true. Your voice, passion and commitment have always guided us forward, and this time is no different.
