Jill Tietjen named distinguished alumna

One of the first women to graduate from the University’s School of Engineering is the recipient of the 2007 Distinguished Alumna Award, presented by the Women’s Center. Jill S. Tietjen (Engr ’76), founder, president and CEO of engineering consulting firm Technically Speaking Inc., was recognized for her support for women who pursue careers in engineering and technology.
Tietjen has spent her career in the electric utility industry. A former national president of the Society of Women Engineers, she frequently writes and speaks about the changing leadership roles of women in technical fields. Tietjen recently established a new summer program for selected engineering undergraduates that involves tackling a global engineering problem.
