Notice some names missing from spring sports rosters? Here's a look at who’s moving into their spots.

Stepped Out
Jacob Thompson: The winningest pitcher in UVA history with 27 victories (27-8 record) for the Cavaliers, Thompson was selected in the fifth round by the Atlanta Braves in the 2008 Major League Baseball draft.

Stepping Up
Matt Packer: A third-year southpaw, Packer was named to the 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List in December. Last season, Parker held the lowest earned-run average in NCAA Division I, posting a 1.14 mark after allowing just nine earned runs in 71.1 innings.

Stepped Out
Stephanie Glover: Last year’s team captain, Glover set a school record in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:47.15. She qualified for the Olympic trials in the 100-meter fly and earned All-ACC honors in the 400- and 800-meter freestyle relay events.

Stepping Up
Mei Christensen: A third-year, Christensen is a two-time All-ACC selection in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke. At the UVA Invitational in December, she set ACC records in both events, giving her the pool, school and conference records in the 100 and 200 back.

Stepped Out
Greg Carlin: Team captain last season, Carlin was the lone fourth year on last year’s roster and was second on the team with a 73.66 stroke average. A history major, he made the record books by winning the Washington (D.C.) Metropolitan Golf Association Amateur in 2007.

Stepping Up
Ben Kohles: A first year from North Carolina, Kohles led the team last fall with a 71.82 stroke average and was the top Cavalier scorer in three of four events. He was named 2007 Carolinas Junior Player of the Year and won the 2008 Carolinas (North and South) Amateur Championship.

Stepped Out
Lindsey Pereira: A semifinalist (with Maggie Yahner) in the ITA East Regionals last season, Pereira was a clutch performer for the Cavaliers. One example: In 2006, she won the clinching match in UVA’s first-round NCAA Tournament victory over Alabama.

Stepping Up
Claire Bartlett: A first year from Tennessee, Bartlett was three-time state singles champion in high school and led her team to three state titles. She was ranked as high as No. 6 nationally in her age group and was named a Top 10 recruit in 2008.
