“UVaM” brings art to the Apple App Store

iPad users can turn, magnify and further explore 19 objects from the UVA Art Museum’s collection as if the artifacts were in their hands. At present, the “UVaM” application offers closer access to objects such as a gilt bronze Buddha and the delicate wax seal on the back of a 16th-century portrait. The museum plans to add another 150 objects to the application.
Idea.org, a nonprofit devoted to science and culture education, declared the application “better than any other cultural heritage app on the market.”
