John Sebastian Bomba Mikulsky (Law ’10) of Apex, North Carolina, died Dec. 31, 2019. He earned his law degree after studying acting, playwriting and political science at Syracuse University. After spending a semester abroad studying at Shakespeare’s Globe theater in London, he performed in the Fringe Festival in Scotland. While at UVA he founded Logic Theory, tutoring students for the LSAT and the bar. He worked in the district attorney’s office in San Francisco before returning to the East Coast, where he spent a year volunteering at CASA in Pittsburgh. He eventually settled with his wife in North Carolina. John was a modern-day Renaissance man—an avid reader with a true love of both learning and teaching. An athlete since childhood, he had a competitive spirit and loved sports, especially Alabama football. He was a health and wellness enthusiast and excellent chef. His fearless and tenacious spirit touched the lives of everyone he met, especially as he fought a two-year battle with cancer. Survivors include his wife, A. Elena Tigaran Mikulsky (Col ’09); his parents Patricia Bomba (Med ’76 CM) and John D. Mikulsky; and his sister Stephanie Mikulsky Huston (Med ’07).
