Nancy Brown Quittmeyer (Nurs ’80 CM) of Mobile, Alabama, died May 11, 2020. At UVA, she was a member of Kappa Delta and the Raven Society. She began her career as a registered nurse at UVA’s hospital. After meeting and marrying her husband in Charlottesville, the two of them moved to Mobile, Alabama. In addition to working as a nurse, she taught nursing at Bishop State Community College. After their children were born, she shifted to volunteer service and community projects for UMS-Wright Preparatory School, the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, the Junior League of Mobile, and as the first vocational parish nurse for Trinity Episcopal Church in Mobile. A smart, funny, and community-minded person, her wry humor remained constant, even after a stroke presented significant challenges. Survivors include her husband, David Quittmeyer (Col ’81, Law ’84 CM); children Joan and Robert; and a sister, Alice Brown Taylor (Engr ’78 CM).
William Vincent Power (Col ’84) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died March 2, 2020. At UVA, he was a member of St. Elmo fraternity. Mr. Power earned his law degree from the College of William & Mary in 1988. During his career, he practiced real estate law with an emphasis on resort development. Survivors include his wife, Dana Sheppard Power (Col ’85); two daughters, Holly Power (Col ’21) and Natalie; two sisters, Barrie Power Edlich (Col ’86) and Anne Perry; and a brother, Edward Power (Col ’76, Grad ’78 CM).
