Ms. Hodge adapted the piece from her 2009 master’s thesis from Hollins University about the women involved in the inspiration and creation of the Beale Memorial Garden at Hollins as well as the recent restoration by the Garden Club of Virginia. Ms. Hodge lives in Blacksburg, Va., and is the daughter of H. Ms. Loiseau is a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Her term as president will begin in May 2010. A member of Weil Gotshal’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Product Liability practices, Ms. Loiseau has litigated cases across a variety of disciplines and has extensive experience coordinating class actions and multi-jurisdictional cases for clients in various industries and has successfully advised clients in grand jury proceedings and Congressional investigations. Ms. Loiseau has been a member of the WBA since 2003 and has served on its board of directors since 2007.  In March 2008, she led the effort for the WBA’s “Creating Pathways to Success for All” program, which focused on challenges facing women of color as part of the association’s ongoing “Initiative on Retention and Advancement of Women.” At Weil Gotshal, she is an active participant in the “Women@Weil” program, the Diversity Committee and the Black Attorney Affinity group. He relinquished command in May of the Army Aviation Flight Test Directorate, co-located in Huntsville, Ala., and Fort Rucker, Ala. In that position, he was responsible for the planning, execution and reporting of the testing of modernized Army rotary-wing, fixed-wing, and unmanned aircraft, as well as associated weapon systems. He and his wife, Tracy, and daughter, Allison, 7, will move to Paris, where Lt. Col. He is the design leader of the new Charlottesville studio, which was founded in May 2008. As the firm’s director of sustainable design, Mr. Winstead is responsible for the integration of environmentally sensitive and high performance building strategies into projects throughout the firm. He is active in national conversation on sustainable design and particularly in high-performance schools. He is a guest at many regional and national conferences and is a Green School Advocate, a select group of professionals working with the U.S. Green Building Council to promote healthy, high-performance schools across the country. He represents SHW on the American Institute of Architects Large-Firm Roundtable on Sustainable Design. Mr. Winstead is also the co-designer of the Community Chalkboard and Podium: A Monument to Free Expression in Charlottesville. The project has garnered a number of awards, including a 2007 VSAIA Award, a 2007 Virginia ASLA Award and a 2009 Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence. Another project of his, the Manassas Park Upper Elementary School and Pre-K Addition, designed while at VMDO Architects, is pursuing LEED Gold Certification and was awarded the 2008 GoGreen Honor Award by the James River Green Building Chapter. The Poquoson Elementary School, also designed while at VMDO Architects, is pursuing LEED gold certification and was awarded the 2006 GoGreen Honor Award, a 2007 DesignShare Recognized Value Award, a 2007 CEFPI Design Award and the 2009 Green Innovation Award for Best Institutional Project K-12 by the Virginia Sustainable Building Network. He is currently working on a LEED platinum project designed to generate as much energy as it uses on an annual basis.
